Most often, our appraisals are used to establish purchase prices that comply with the Stark Law, the anti-kickback statute, and other regulations governing financial transactions in the healthcare industry.
In many situations, the assets that we value will be in continued use, and our appraisal will consider the direct costs associated with the machines as well as the installation costs and any other direct and indirect costs to make the equipment fully functional. If the premise of value is not in continued use, we will appraise the assets under an alternative premise – such as an assemblage of assets (not in continued use), orderly liquidation, or forced liquidation.
Our M&E appraisal reports include a detailed listing of the appraised assets. The scope of the report can range from a single piece of equipment to a complete inventory of a business’s fixed assets – including furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The appraisal is based on market values for the assets that are determined using sales transactions or current offers for comparable items.
